This last week I have gotten to go out a couple times on my new kayak, and I have to say, this is fun! On Saturday I went out in the morning and took my camera and tripod to try and get some pictures while out and about. In the Chagrin river there is a decent size island called Anchor Island, I was on it briefly on Thursday but got rained out. On Saturday I brought along some jeans and hiking boots to change into and spent about 2 hours on the island.
Anchor island (Click here to see it on a map) was brought to my attention as the Lake Metroparks system just put two geocaches on the island. I have found that the adventure geocaches are the ones I most enjoy, so I have been looking forward to getting out and finding these. This island was a lot of fun to hike around, there were some massive trees here, you don’t often see walnut and willow trees that are as big as the ones I found on the island here. Also I ran into a deer while there, I don’t think the deer was expecting to see a human there :-).
After taking the pictures I wanted to get and exploring a bit, I headed out into Lake Erie for a bit before heading back home. I have decided that kayaking first thing in the morning is really a good way to start the day!
