Picture of the week

What is a weed?  A plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered.  ~Ralph Waldo Emerson, Fortune of the Republic, 1878

When I am walking around on random trails I tend to take as many pictures of weeds as I do anything else.  I always figure you can find a good picture of a rose anywhere, but I like getting good pictures of weeds.  Plus as a bonus I have been working to identify more types of edible plants  that I run across on my walks, and surprise surprise, many of them are considered weeds.

I took this picture when I was walking through the woods down at Wayne National Forest, it was raining while I was walking around so the pictures all had a shine on them that I really liked.  I guess there is not much else to say about this picture since it is just a picture of a common weed.  Enjoy!

  1. Nice picture & quote from Emerson.

Keep on learning, you never know when it may come in handy.

  2. This looks like an aster. Could it be the Flat-topped White Aster that grows in moist woods and swamps, fens? (Aster umbellatus)
